Affiliation Requests
Posted on 3/13/2005 by RE.hajim
It's a new year, and so I've decided to take it upon myself to organize and update
our current list of affiliates for Resident Evil Fan. We haven't taken on links for anyone new for some time, but have decided
it's time to open the gates of brother (and sisterly) love and partner up with some more of the sites out there.
In any case, what that means is that we're currently asking for anyone who has a site that they'd like to affiliate with
us, that they send me (Rombie) an e-mail with information about their site. I'd like the sites name, URL, webmaster information,
contact details (e-mails, messanger info such as MSN, ICQ, AIM), and a small paragraph about the site to be included in the
e-mail.
This information has to be sent to me, and me only, from the "contact us" page's list right here. Any requests sent to other staff members will be ignored as I'm the only one organizing this.
I look forward to seeing some of the new sites out there.
An Interview With Rebecca Chambers - Hope Levy
Posted on 2/27/2005 by jim.reha
Yes, it's finally time for another one of our interviews with the actors who provide the voices for the series, this time
with the lovely Hope Levy - voice of Rebecca Chambers in the Remake of Resident Evil.
Hope is a multi-talented actor/voice artist/singer/comedian who's done a huge variety of work. You'll find the interview
with her in our interviews section where she answers a number of questions both from us as well as the fan base. Check it out.
Along side this, some minor updates and additions have also been made to the voice actors section here at REFANB - which
you can find here.
Scenario Writer, Noboru Sugimura, Passes Posted
on 2/27/2005 by re.hajim
According to our friends over at Resident Evil Network, Biohazard Scenario writer Noboru Sugimura has passed away on Feb 25th.
Sugimura has been the scripting powerhouse behind many of Capcom's best titles and series' since he and Yoshiki Okamoto
formed the scenario company Flagship during the production of Biohazard 2, undoubtably a creation that caused major changes
to the future of Capcom's titles.
In the Biohazard/Resident Evil series he's been involved in most of the titles since 1997 including Biohazard 2 (1998),
Gun Survivor (2000), Code Veronica (2000), Biohazard Zero (2002), and Gun Survivor 4 (2003).
Aside from these Biohazard games, he provided the scenario script for Dino Crisis 2 (2000) and 3 (2003) as well as the
Dino Crisis backed Gun Survivor 3 (2002), the entire Onimusha trilogy (2000-2004), Devil May Cry (2001), and Clock Tower 3
(2003). It's unknown what of Capcom's current titles yet to be released he has worked on or what his last project was.
Capcom USA has finally updated the website for Outbreak File #2, releasing in the
US and Canada this upcoming April. The site is based on the Japanese website for both the first two titles in the series and
features some old and new content as far as the web goes.
Japanese BH4 and US RE4 Sales Posted
on 2/18/2005 by re.hajim
It's interesting to see how sales for the latest title have gone across the two
of three regions released so far. IGNCube, reported with this story a couple of days ago stating that Resident Evil 4 has sold approx. 319,000 units from Jan 11th to 31st - making it the biggest
seller of the month. However on the other side of the world, sales of Biohazard 4 have not been so spectular with total numbers
somewhere between 184 and 189,000 right up until Feb 13th, depending on which source you go by.
While various estimates we reported on over a year ago expected big sales for the title, and while US sales will likely
push over 500,000 in the coming month, European sales will not make up the shortfall and it seems the PS2 annoucement may
have caused more damage to the GameCube version than expected. How the sales will be for the PS2 version when it releases
near the end of the year as currently planned is yet to be seen, but expectations are Japanese sales at least may actually
be very high indeed.
More News Bits Posted on 2/17/2005
by re.hajim
Back again with another small roundup of recent bits and pieces in the Resident
Evil world.
More on the PS2 Rumor After the reports made by numerous people and sites mentioned during our last update, Capcom
finally got around to deny that any such interview existed and that the contents were not at all true. Thankfully, one less
internet rumor to worry about.
A UMD Apocalypse Sony has released details about upcoming movie releases for the PSP's UMD format, which include
Spiderman 2, xXx, Hellboy, Once Upon a Time in Mexico, and Resident Evil Apocalypse. All of these titles will be released
on April 19th, with new movie releases being made on a monthly basis.
Chainsaw Controller in Europe This report from Eurogamer confirms that Nubytech's Resident Evil 4 Chainsaw Controller is making it's way across the Atlantic
to the the European region. Thanks to reHorror for the news.

Various roundup details from the Resident Evil world.
European RE4 Set Following our earlier report, Nintendo Europe has finally confirmed the set releasing across
Europe for Ł89 (Approx 130 euros). This is a huge deal considering the game itself is worth Ł40 by itself. Included
in the package is a Resident Evil 4 branded Platinum GameCube and controller, a copy of Resident Evil 4, and a bonus dvd with
making of material for RE4, video previews of the series on GameCube so far (Remake, Zero, RE2, RE3, Code Veronica), and a
playable demo of Metroid Prime 2. This package releases the same date as the game Europe wide, March 18th. More information
can be found from Nintendo Europe, at this link.
N-Insanity REvolutionizing Terror Article We got sent along another link from NintendoInsanity on an article
on the revolutionary changes of the series. You can check the article out by clicking right here.
Chainsaw Controller @ IGN Two reports from IGN this past week about the controller being released soon by NubyTech.
this article covers the controller itself with images and info, while this one, covers the box for the controller itself. Along side this, you can check out more information at the official website for
the chainsaw, at www.residentevilcontroller.com.
Random Rumors on RE4 4 PS2 Random reports, which like making their way into my e-mail, suggest some concepts
of problems with the PS2 port of RE4. It's interesting to note that details of this have floated around several sites who
picked it up off a link in IGN's forum (specifically this one), and that some even went as far as making it out that some of the bonus items were confirmed. Aside from the fact, of irony
included, that IGN have labeled it as an alledged rumor in this article, a small number of details within the information still don't stack up so well. We shall have to see what comes of this rumor
in the future.
Outbreak 2 Survey Posted on 2/4/2005
by re.hajim
Capcom is running a marketing survey on your thoughts and opinions on Outbreak
2. Some of the questions ask for your opinion on how much you'd pay for the new game, as well as what things are important
to you in the sequel. So make sure to take the survey and have your voice be heard.
Thanks to MuttonChops for the heads up on the survey.
Resident Evil 4... in 2003 Posted
on 1/26/2005 by re.hajim
Since the early release of Biohazard 4 in Japan, information about the bonus DVD that comes with orders has been doing the
rounds, and within it is 5 minites of video footage of RE4. Nothing amazing right? Thing is, this is 5 minutes of footage
from the old version, originally shown at the E3 in 2003.
Leon battles the hooked zombie, statues with axes, and little dolls with knives which all seem to have been taken over
by something... quite likely the latest virus to be included in the game at the time.
The footage can be downloaded here (right click and save as) in a Real Player format (20MB full 5 mins),
or split into several pieces over at IGN. You can reach IGN's page on it right here.
Aside from this, rumors are abound from Cube Europe, GameFront, and IGN about a European bundle when the game releases
there in March. Reports are various but all include a branded GC console, a copy of Resident Evil 4, and depending on who
you hear it from a making of disc and/or demo disc containg demos of the other 5 Resident Evil titles you can get on the GameCube.
Neither Nintendo of Europe, who is publishing the game on behalf of Capcom, or Capcom Eurosoft have commented on the package
as of yet. More as we hear about it.
Edit: The first link has been removed as the file has gone down, but the second link to IGN is still there for the video.
Minor News Bits Posted on 1/10/2005
by re.hajim
The official Biohazard 4 site was updated last Friday with some final details about
the games merchant system and some images of various stages from the game. The updates can be seen at www.capcom.co.jp/bio4.
New RE4 video links from both IGN and GameSpy, however the IGN videos are for Insider's only sadly. Those can be found
right here. GameSpy's videos on the other hand can be accessed by anyone and are found right here.
IGN is also preparing their video review of the game, again Insider only, which will be found online here once they've added the video links. However the verdict will still be as everyone knows.
On the topic of reviews, GameSpot has just (in the last 10 minutes) posted it's review of Resident Evil 4 as well. It can
be found by clicking here.
Nine Year REflection Posted on 1/9/2005
by re.hajim
Nintendo Insanity recently posted an article reflecting on the past 9 years of Resident Evil. It briefly talks about each of the major games
in the series and their impacts on the gaming industry at the time. A pretty cool article. Check it out here.
Resident Evil 4 Reviews Hit The Web Posted
on 1/7/2005 by re.hajim
While the GMR review from this months issue that some people have been spreading has been enough for some, others have been
waiting for websites to start their commentary on the forthcoming Resident Evil 4, and just in the past hour or two both GameSpy
and IGN have posted their reviews. I won't say anymore, just get browsing.
